The Godfather is having its golden moment in 2022 for good reason. It’s been 50 years since the film hit theaters and gave the world the Corleone crime gods. There’s already some celebration in the works with a return to theaters with a 4K Ultra restoration and a trailer that shows off how great it looks now. But there is more. Paramount + is delivering The Offer, a series about the making of this iconic film. At first, this sounds kinda meh… until you think about the people behind the film like Francis Ford Coppola and producer Albert Ruddy, who was allegedly a wild and very interesting dude. The Offer’s trailer gives us a deeper look into how The Godfather came to life.
It’s very “prestige drama” with some gunfire, arguments, and brutal moments of its own. And the cast is quite the impressive list of names with Miles Teller as Albert S. Ruddy, Matthew Goode as Robert Evans, Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Colombo, Dan Fogler as Francis Ford Coppola, Colin Hanks as Berry Lapidus, and Juno Temple as Bettye McCartt. We can watch any of them spar with each other and enjoy it. And, we are sorta hoping that Nic Cage makes a random appearance. He couldn’t slide his way into Part III but maybe he can play a behind-the-scenes dude, right?
The Offer will run for 10 episodes and arrive on April 28. Well, the first three episodes will come out on that date. The rest of the season is set for a weekly Thursday run, giving viewers plenty of time to sweat and fret about the sheer drama between episodes. Paramount + continues to roll out new content and keep viewers locked into the streaming service. And The Offer‘s trailer definitely makes us want to watch The Godfather franchise to get ready.
