THE LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT Will End This May

A few months ago, we got the sad news that The Late Show With Stephen Colbert was cancelled by CBS. Interestingly, this decision came shortly after Colbert addressed Paramount Global’s supposed “big fat bribe” to President Trump. The company did not cite that as its reason for the cancellation but people will draw their own conclusions. Now, we know that The Late Show With Stephen Colbert will air its final episode on Thursday, May 21.

It’s truly the end of an era considering the show started back in 1993. According to Deadline, CBS executives stated that the move was “purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late-night” and “is not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.” Right.

This cancellation and May 21 ending date for The Late Show With Stephen Colbert hasn’t stopped the host from still being critical about our political landscape. He continues to give his very pointed opinions about Trump, Paramount, and ICE, among other things.

And hey, that’s what late night TV is all about: both being funny and outspoken. It’s not clear what Mr. Colbert will do next but we are sure he certainly won’t disappear into the shadows. That guy has a lot to say and it will be said, whether you like it or not.
