Sony Announces THE LAST OF US PART II Limited Edition PlayStation

Sony has announced a new limited-edition PlayStation 4 Pro bundle for The Last of Us Part II. The console is designed after Ellie’s floral tattoo and comes in a tasteful matte-black finish. The bundle includes a Last of Us Part II DualShock 4 controller, a disc copy of the new game, and digital content like a PS4 theme and avatars. It’ll retail for $399.99, or you can grab the controller separately for $64.99.

“When the opportunity arose to create a custom PS4 Pro for The Last of Us Part II, I worked with our graphic designer at the time, Angel Garcia, and we considered a few different ideas, but we kept coming back to Ellie’s tattoo,” Naughty Dog art director John Sweeney said in a blog post. “By that point, it had become a symbol of the game and for the community—much like the Firefly logo in the first game. It was the clear choice, but we wondered: what if it could be engraved? It hadn’t been done before, so we weren’t sure it was even possible, but thanks to the incredible efforts of the teams at PlayStation, we found a way.”

He added, “The result is something we feel is really special—a design that honors the passion of our incredible fans and that we ourselves would be proud to own.”

The publisher’s also launching a matching headset and hard drive. The headset’s wireless, features Ellie’s fern tattoo, and will run you $99.99. The licensed hard drive is a two-terabyte Seagate, which will go for $89.99.

Originally, Last of Us Part II was announced for a February 21 release; it then got pushed back to May 29 in October. With the unexpected “ logistical issues” brought on by the coronavirus outbreak, Naughty Dog said the title would be delayed indefinitely. Things were set back into motion ahead of schedule, however, when crucial footage from the game’s story leaked online last month.

The Last of Us Part II and its matching PS4 Pro bundle will arrive on June 19.
