Sure, the first Frozen dealt with themes of adventure and isolation, of familial strife and sibling love on the grandest of scales. But that still couldn’t prepare us for the sheer epicness of what the sequel seems to be going for. We see Queen Elsa running smack into a giant wave, using her freezing abilities to create sheets of ice to stand on. She’s either stranded somewhere remote or this is some kind of training sequence, with Elsa pushing the limits of powers to see how strong she can become.
If you think that sounds like something out of a superhero movie, you’re not alone. In fact, one talented Twitter user had the smart idea to put the theme for The Avengers over the Frozen 2 trailer, and the results are surprisingly perfect. Check it out!

Kudos, @jeeveswilliams, for having the good sense to line these epic properties up, because holy cow does that fit well! In fact, we’re not convinced that this wasn’t intentional. Maybe the good folks at Disney used The Avengers theme as temp music when cutting the trailer, or maybe it’s just another bit of Mouse House serendipity. Whatever the case, we’re so happy this mashup exists.
It’s fun stuff like this that’ll tide us over until Frozen 2 arrives later this year. So far, we have no idea what this movie will be about, other than a brief description from Disney that mentions the characters from the first film heading into the forest to uncover an ancient mystery about their kingdom, Arendelle. The trailer shows that Elsa sequence, along with images of her sister Anna surrounded by colorful icy diamonds, Kristoff leading a reindeer herd on his companion Sven, and Elsa using her frozen powers to protect Olaf. Avengers assemble, right?
Frozen 2 arrives in theaters on November 22.
