During San Diego Comic-Con 2024, we got some exciting information about the future of The Boys universe. While the flagship show is ending with a fifth and final season, there’s a new spinoff series on the horizon. Vought Rising is a prequel series that will take us to The Boys universe during the 1950s with Soldier Boy and Stormfront. Since then, the only casting we’ve only known about is Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, who are both reprising the aforementioned supes.
We don’t have a ton of details about the show yet, but Jensen Ackles did give us a little hint about what Soldier Boy will be like in Vought Rising. During a recent appearance caught in the below video by Fangasm, Ackles said that we will see the foul and gruff character in a different light. This series does take place decades ago before Soldier Boy started to swallow his feelings, so we will get to see what made him become such a jerk.
Ackles said Vought Rising would “certainly be looking at the world through a different lens because this is the genesis of it all. Soldier Boy specifically hasn’t had years or decades of being that guy. He’s still trying to figure out what that is and who he’s gonna be. So it’s a kind of coming-of-age story for him from where he was to where he got. It’s going to be a little bit of a different flavor in how he interacts and how he is.”
We cannot wait to see what happens. We know that Elizabeth Posey (Euphoria) and Will Hochman (Blue Bloods) will join the Vought Rising cast. Details about both characters are currently under wraps. They could be portraying founding members or 50s-era employees at Vought International. It isn’t impossible that Hochman could be related to or have a connection with Frederick Vought, who founded Vought International shortly after WWII. Or maybe they are more supes who will cause problems as Compound V takes off.
Here’s a little more about Vought Rising to bring things into context:
“It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought,” said Eric Kripke and The Boys series executive producer Paul Grellong, who will be the executive producer and showrunner for Vought Rising. “We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”

Right now, there’s no word on when Vought Rising will hit Prime Video. But with new casting, it seems to be taking shape and moving closer to production. In the meantime, we are patiently waiting for more Gen V, which is set to start its sophomore year in September 2025.
