The fight against Homelander goes into full swing in The Boys season five’s third episode. Both Butcher’s team and Homelander’s crew discover that Soldier Boy didn’t die because he was injected with V-One, the original batch of Compound V. Only a few people, including him and Stormfront/Liberty, were able to endure it and thus became immortal. The supe killing virus cannot bond to it, and Soldier Boy is right back to looking like his normal self. The Boys know that Homelander will be on the hunt for V-One, so they seek out Stan Edgar for help. That journey reveals a lot about Compound V’s origins, and we discover what Fort Harmony’s importance is in The Boys universe.
Starlight leads them to Stan Edgar’s compound… well, almost all of them. Butcher is obviously not welcome, considering he killed Edgar’s daughter Victoria Neuman. Zoe is also quite angry and wants to kill Butcher. The crew dig into some old Vought files that Stan has, and MM discovers that many files from 1944 are encrypted but also point to Fort Harmony.
What Is Fort Harmony in The Boys Universe? Frederick Vought’s House of Horrors
It doesn’t take long for him to crack the code. In The Boys universe, Fort Harmony was an Army hospital where Frederick Vought worked. The government designated it top secret and decommissioned it after WWII. MM says that if there is any V-One out there, that would be the place to look.
Predictably, things go to s**t when Dogknott, the Deep, Black Noir (or whoever that is under the mask), and Cindy show up. The Deep takes Stan Edgar back to Homelander, who presumably is seeking him out for the same information. Stan did tell MM that he’s in a losing battle because capitalism will always win, and even said that he still plans to head Vought again one day. So he’s probably going to give up the information. It will be a race to see who can get there first, and the Boys are mostly losing.

Butcher ran off after Ryan, who confronted Homelander about his mother and was nearly beaten to death. Zoe found her father Sameer and told him the truth about Victoria’s death, so he destroyed all the supe killing virus stash. Annie is in her feelings and flew away from the team.
Honestly, that was the best choice she could’ve made. In episode four, the Boys go to Fort Harmony, which is littered with dead bodies and black tentacles/veins all over its wall. As they explore the location deeper, there’s something incredibly off about their personalities. Everyone is downright hateful to each other, and not in their normal s**t talking banter. Frenchie is the only one unaffected, and he soons pieces together that there’s something in this atmosphere that makes people hateful and violent.
They are disappointed to not find any V-One at Fort Harmony, and conclude that Bombsight, a supe who once stood alongside Soldier Boy, took it for whatever reason. Things get nuts when the Boys all start beating the crap out of each other at the worst possible time. Homelander and Soldier Boy are on the scene also looking for the V-One. Soldier Boy is obviously having conflicted emotions upon returning to a place where he was subjected to torturous experiments at the hands of Frederick Vought.
He locks Homelander into a chamber that weakens his powers with the intention of finding the V1 and destroying it. Frenchie soon discovers a man encased in tentacles, who turns out to be someone named Quinn, who was a failed test subject of V-One. Soldier Boy shows up and Frenchie begs him to kill Quinn because he’s the source of hate. At first, Soldier Boy refuses, even though we learn that Quinn was incredibly jealous of him during their heyday. Eventually, Frenchie is able to play some mind games with Soldier Boy and he hits Quinn with that big ole blast. This stops the Boys from killing each other and allows them to escape.
Meanwhile, Homelander is able to get out of his temporary restraint. He is ready to kill Soldier Boy but changes his tune after seeing the normally brash hero crying and dejected. Homelander leaves Soldier Boy to parse through his thoughts.
We will certainly learn more about Fort Harmony in upcoming episodes of The Boys. And considering that Vought Rising will take place in the 1950s, we will get more insight into Fort Harmony, Compound V-One, and what horrors happened thanks to Frederick Vought.
