Apple TV+ never said Ted Lasso‘s third season was its last, either before or after it aired. But season three’s finale sure felt like the show’s farewell. The series seemingly wrapped up its story. Ted left AFC Richmond and those who love it in a better place while he headed back home to America. He was finally ready to deal with his own issues. But since the episode aired there’s been plenty of chatter that Ted Lasso will return, either on its own or with a spinoff. Now it seems like a certainty we’re definitely getting more of that mustachioed man. Jason Sudeikis said Ted Lasso season four is being written right now, and it will see Ted coaching a women’s team.

Ted Lasso Is Officially Renewed for Season 4
Jason Sudeikis stopped by the New Heights podcast hosted by retired Philadelphia Eagles great Jason Kelce and Taylor Swift’s boyfriend and his brother Travis. The two future NFL Hall-of-Famers made sure to ask their guest about a potential fourth season of Ted Lasso. That’s when Sudeikis dropped a real barbecue sauce moment. “We’re writing season four now,” he said. “That’s the official word. Ted’s coaching a women’s team.” And just like that, confirmation of Ted Lasso season four. Apple also confirmed Ted Lasso‘s season four renewal with a press release.
What Will Happen in Ted Lasso Season 4?
Sudeikis wouldn’t answer whether or not Ted will be in the U.S. during season four of Ted Lasso, but then joked that’s only because he doesn’t actually know. Whether or not he was being coy about that, this revelation seemed very sincere. And very planned. As Awful Announcing noted, the show itself reacted on social media.
Apple additionally shared the following comments from Sudeikis. “As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap. In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
We Can Still Have an AFC Richmond Ted Lasso Spinoff Starring Roy Kent
The possibility of Ted coaching a women’s team during an official fourth season of Ted Lasso, which would mean a primarily new cast, also means Apple TV+ could simultaneously move forward with a spinoff series about AFC Richmond.
It f***ing better, because while we love the idea of Ted Lasso coaching women and the different challenges that would pose in season four, we won’t accept more Ted Lasso in our f***ing lives if it doesn’t also mean more Roy f***ing Kent, too.
