TALAMASCA Cancelled at AMC, First Anne Rice Immortal Universe Series to Go

It’s bad news for fans of Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe. The first show in the franchise has officially been cut. Yes, Talamasca: The Secret Order has been cancelled by AMC. The show about Anne Rice’s Talamasca organization only lasted one season in total, and though we didn’t mind the more spy-oriented nature of the series or its fairly interesting new faces, we have to admit it didn’t really hold up to the Immortal Universe’s jewel, Interview with the Vampire. But the good news is that we might still see some of our favorite characters, including the haunted Guy Anatole, played by Nicholas Denton, and the devious Jasper, played by William Fichtner, elsewhere in Interview, Mayfair Witches, and any other new series that come out of the AMC Anne Rice Immortal Universe. Here’s what we know about Talamasca‘s cancellation.

An AMC spokesperson offered the following about Talamasca getting cancelled. In a statement to Variety the network shared, “While we are not proceeding with another season of Talamasca: The Secret Order, we are proud of the series and grateful for the efforts of everyone involved. The Talamasca has a storied place within the Anne Rice Immortal Universe, and we expect to see at least some of these characters, and the organization itself, in future expressions of the franchise.”

Well, we wouldn’t mind Jasper showing up in Interview with the Vampire/The Vampire Lestat/whatever it will be called next (cough The Vampire Armand) to have some great old-man-vampire chemistry with Eric Bogosian’s Daniel Molloy. In fact, Bogosian’s Daniel Molloy already cameoed on Talamasca, so we guess it’s time Jasper repaid the favor. We also would hope to get just a little more Gasper, that’s the ship between Guy and Jasper, somewhere along the line. The pair did have good energy together. But we’ll probably have to wait a long minute to see if and when any Talamasca characters show up in other Anne Rice outings.

For now, we’ll be more than happy to content ourselves with The Vampire Lestat, which is coming our way on June 7. Mayfair Witches will also be back for season three in early 2027.

In all, our advice to future AMC Anne Rice Immortal Universe series remains, turn up the queerness and the weird vibes. That’s what the people are here for. Maybe if Talamasca had been just a little less conventional, it wouldn’t have gotten cancelled.
