These Re-Cut Videos of Obi-Wan and Anakin Recalling The Dark Times Will Probably Make You Sob Uncontrollably

Prepare your tear ducts! With all of the Star Wars news of the franchise’s future, it’s sometimes nice to look back to the beginning–where our favorite stories started. Several creative fans have cut emotional scenes throughout the history of Star Wars together so that it looks like characters are reminiscing about the past. Now, we can gain insight into what the characters might’ve been possibly thinking during these life-changing events. Check out the videos below for a bit of nostalgia and your daily dose of Star Wars feels.

Watch Obi-Wan’s re-telling of Anakin’s death from A New Hope intercut with scenes from Revenge of the Sith. The pauses are heavier and the heartbreak is evident when we’re able to see exactly what Obi-Wan might’ve seen. The song in the background – evocative, melancholy, tearjerking – is “A Blessing” by Max Richter, and if you recognize it, it’s probably because you heard it in every episode of The Leftovers, television’s most gut-wrenchingly depressing drama.

Now, watch Darth Vader remember his life through the lens of his love for Padmé as he stands above Luke in Return of the Jedi. Was he remembering falling in love with Padmé and having their children? Or his decision to turn to the dark side? The song here is a solo piano cover of The Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind” by Maxence Cyrin, also seen occasionally on The Leftovers (and a bunch of other places).

These videos manage to make such emotionally charged moments more touching. The very thought of our favorite characters reminiscing about their past just gives us all of the feels. Stay strong!
