Star WarsOpens in a new tab‘ original trilogy saw Luke SkywalkerOpens in a new tab train with Yoda to become a Jedi. But what if Leia OrganaOpens in a new tab was in his shoes? She was the Skywalker Yoda preferred to trainOpens in a new tab anyway. With her more patient and calm mind, I have no doubt she could have excelled. And art by Jennifer Aberin Johnson, via The Mary SueOpens in a new tab, imagines an alternate universe where Luke and Leia swapped roles–both on the battlefield, so to speak, and in quieter moments. We are so here for it.

Leia taking Luke’s hand and leading him to safety is only natural. She’s the one who had to save their skins on the Death Star after all, even if she did discover an incredible smell along the way.

The above image is my favorite. Leia wielding the green lightsaber in Luke’s black Return of the Jedi outfit? Be still my heart. She definitely could have brought Darth Vader back to the light, just like Luke.
The below illustration with Han Solo speaks for itself.

Aberin Johnson creates a lot of Star Wars fan art you must check out (including modern takes on trios from each of the trilogies, like this oneOpens in a new tab with Obi-Wan, Padmé, and Anakin).
