The Phantom Menace introduced one of the best villains in the history of the galaxy far, far away. Then it immediately killed him off. Or so we thought. No one could have known the story of Sidious’ menacing apprentice was only just beginning when Obi-Wan Kenobi cut him in half. Darth Maul lived on as a half-robot spider returned to face his old master, built a criminal empire, and became buddies with Ezra Bridger. Now he’s set to get another chapter in his enduring story of rage and vengeance with Disney+’s animated show Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord. But that won’t be the only chance to see the infamous Dathomirian on screen you have this spring. WEBTOON is bringing the full run of Marvel Comics’ 2024 anthology series Star Wars: Darth Maul – Black, White & Red to life. And Nerdist not only has your first look at the WEBTOON version of the Darth Maul story, but we can exclusively tell you it will premiere today.

WEBTOON’s latest partnership with Disney will see Star Wars: Darth Maul – Black, White & Red get the vertical-scroll format treatment. Starting today, Friday, March 13, at 5:00 pm PT, fans will be able to enjoy the four-issue limited series in WEBTOON’s lively format. WEBTOON’s adaptation will run for 12 episodes.
The Darth Maul anthology coming to WEBTOON tells four different standalone stories about the iconic villain. Together, the comic “dives into Maul’s rage, brutal Sith training, and relentless hunger for power.” And it’s “all brought to life in stark black-and-white artwork with bold red accents.” From horror and intrigue, to ancient secrets and questions of faith, to the dark side, it’s an intimate look at a complex figure during his years serving Palpatine.
The WEBTOON version of Star Wars: Darth Maul – Black, White & Red also looks amazing. The color scheme of these stories captures more than just Maul’s appearance. They capture his aura. Seeing them come to life on WEBTOON will only make them look even better. It’s a whole new way to enjoy an already great series
And to think, we thought Maul’s story had ended before it even really began.
