AHSOKA’s Latest Trailer Teases Ezra, Thrawn, and Ahsoka as Sabine’s Teacher

Star Wars: Ahsoka puts Ahsoka Tano in the spotlight, and the upcoming live-action Star Wars series is almost here. The story from head writer Dave Filoni continues the character’s journey as the one-time Jedi searches for Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger. It picks up on threads from the animated series Star Wars Rebels. As the latest Ahsoka trailer shows, those threads from Rebels to the series are strong. The below footage finally reveals Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger and shows everyone a clear view of Lars Mikkelsen’s Grand Admiral Thrawn.

We cannot get enough of that beautiful, blue Chiss face.

One of many exciting parts of the Ahsoka trailer is seeing more of Baylan Skoll (the late Ray Stevenson) and Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno). They wild orange-hued lightsabers and seem to have war on the mind. Skoll’s “We are no Jedi” line echoes the time Ahsoka said “I am no Jedi” when she fought Darth Vader, a.k.a. her former master Anakin Skywalker, on Malachor. Skoll and Hati meet with Morgan Elsbeth (Diana Lee Inosanto), who we first saw in The Mandalorian. They want power and we can’t help but wonder if it involves the World Between Worlds.

The Ahsoka trailer then leans into the Star Wars Rebels connections. Hera Syndulla talks to Ahsoka about needing to reconcile with Sabine Wren. Sabine calls Ahsoka “master” and notes that she never made anything easy. With Sabine in possession of Ezra’s lightsaber, Ahsoka could be training her how to use it or maybe… Sabine has the Force. And the hologram of Ezra! We cannot.

Ahsoka will premiere on Disney+ on August 23, 2023 with the first two episodes.
