Spider-Man: Brand New Day is arriving in theaters on July 31, and man, did it take forever to get this first trailer. But it’s here at last, and after almost five years (Yes, it’s been that long since Spider-Man: No Way Home, believe it or not.) Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows Peter Parker (Tom Holland) four years after Doctor Strange made everyone on Earth forget who he was, committing to a life of being the hero New York needs above all else. But what kind of toll has that had on him? The trailer shows Spider-Man in action, along with fellow MCU icons the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and the Hulk/Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo).
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton is behind the camera for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This is the first MCU Spidey movie not directed by Jon Watts. The script comes from returning Spider-Man franchise writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Also among the cast are Michael Mando, finally playing the Scorpion, Tramell Tillman, Marvin Jones III as Tombstone, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Jacob Batalon returning as Ned Leeds. The mystery role is Stranger Things star Sadie Sink. Is she Jean Grey? Jean Grey’s daughter, Rachel Summers? Maybe one of Spider-Man’s amazing mutant friends, Firestar? We’ll finally know soon.
We do know that the comic villain collective the Hand will be in Brand New Day. And there are other appearances from Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tarantula.

One thing we love seeing in the trailer is Spider-Man in a costume that reflects his comic book outfit more than any other Spider-Man movie before it. Even though the end of No Way Home had him swinging around New York with a costume that evoked the comics, there was no guarantee it would stick. And we’re very glad that it has. The official Spider-Man: Brand New Day website is now also live, promising more updates soon as we get closer to the film’s July 31 release date.
