Looking for a finger-licking treat that will put a smile on your face and an unbelievably catchy song in your heart? Then you have to learn how to make a tray of Chef’s Chocolate Salty Balls from South Park, which, in this new real world incarnation, actually do look delicious. See for yourself in the video below.
These mouthwatering chocolate salty balls based on Chef’s fictional baked goods and accompanying tune come via Laughing Squid, and were a part of a Binging with Babish cooking video dedicated to all the wonderful edibles cooked up by various South Park characters. Along with Chef’s Chocolate Salty Balls, the video also covers how to make Cartman’s Mr. And Mrs. Tenorman Chili (3:55), as well as Randy’s frittata made with goat cheese and heirloom tomatoes (6:20).
The balls definitely take the cake, however, even though they eventually require a recipe differing from the one described in Chef’s song. Also, the show’s host notes that there isn’t actually any salt in the recipe. So why would the song call them salty? That’s a mystery that will never be solved.
If you need to hear Chef’s song, “Chocolate Salty Balls (P.S. I Love You)” by the late Isaac Hayes more than anything right now, here’s is the ballad of salty, chocolatey love in all its glory:
