Let’s face it, times are tough. And we could all use a little relaxation in our busy and often stressful lives. When everything around us feels hard, sometimes retreating into the transcendent beauty of nature can go a long way. And that’s exactly what photographer Vincent Ledvina invites you to do. In a stunning compilation video, he’s harnessed all the incredible power of the Northern Lights, a.k.a the Aurora Borealis. You get all the awe and excitement and have to do none of the trekking into the snow. It’s a great deal. Take a look at the Northern Lights dancing, below.
Ledvina shares in his description of this Aurora Borealis compilation, “8000 photos and 8 nights of aurora chasing later I have produced this short film on the aurora, combining many timelapse sequences that I had captured.”
8,000 pictures. Can you imagine? That’s probably more than you have saved on your iPhone. The video, which we first saw on Laughing Squid, comes set to fantastical-sounding music, takes us through several exquisite sequences of the Northern Lights filling up the sky. Although many of us may never get to experience this phenomenon in person, we feel grateful that the power of the internet gives us a chance. Because the results really do just suck you in. It’s hard to believe how beautiful the Aurora Borealis can get. But when you’re focusing on that, you forget to worry about all the other things you had on your mind.
Ledvina also shares a video of the Northern Lights he took in real-time. And, if possible, the Aurora Borealis look even more magical.
We can’t fully imagine what it would be like to see the lights rising in front of us, filling up the entire sky. But we’ll sure watch this video, close our eyes, and do our best.
