It is time to start getting excited about our next big Marvel movie. Although Doctor Strange 2 doesn’t release until May, the teases are slowly starting to flow. Including a host of new images from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, revealing all our favorite characters. And, of course, a host of new information about the movie. Although these images don’t reveal much, and any teases are veiled, they show us plenty for us to know this will be a monumental movie.
Recently released stills from Empire Magazine reveal Scarlet Witch, America Chavez, and, of course, Doctor Stephen Strange, in what looks to be a little hot water. These images also came with a set of new teases and insights into the upcoming Doctor Strange movie.

None of these characters’ appearances in the Doctor Strange sequel come as a surprise, we’ve seen them in the trailers and other marketing so far. However, new images from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness let us get a very good look at them.
“Strange is still learning about the Multiverse…And here’s a character that can actually travel through it. He’s such a know-it-all all the time, and to have to learn from a kid probably smarts.”

Especially curious is the image of America Chavez and Doctor Strange in adjoining glass cells. What mess have they gotten themselves into this time? Doctor Strange, it has to be said, doesn’t have a very good track record when it comes to getting others into big trouble.
Director Sam Raimi expands on the relationship, saying, “Strange is still learning about the Multiverse… And here’s a character that can actually travel through it. He’s such a know-it-all all the time, and to have to learn from a kid probably smarts.” That definitely tracks.

When it comes to Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch (a.k.a Wanda Maximoff), Stephen Strange may have met his match. Producer Richie Palmer notes, “I don’t know who’s more powerful than Wanda… Meeting the Wanda Maximoff at the end of Endgame would have been a lot for Strange. Who comes out on top as the most powerful being in the universe? Maybe we find out at the end of the movie.” But will they work together, or come to blows?
Palmer further shares, “Madness has many different definitions… It’s maddening for Doctor Strange to have to watch the love of his life marry someone else. And it’s maddening for Wanda to have been told, ‘There’s a book, and there’s a chapter about you in that book you should read, and secrets you don’t know about yourself.’” It seems like anger, curiosity, frustration, and the characters’ reactions to these feelings will be at the center of Multiverse of Madness.
As with all MCU team-ups, we can’t wait to see how these characters properly interact. Scarlet Witch actress, Elizabeth Olsen echoes those sentiments. She notes, “I really was excited to do dialogue with him [Benedict Cumberbatch]. I really enjoyed our constant conversation, of analysis and trying to understand where both characters are coming from.”
As for everything else, well… Obviously, Marvel isn’t saying. When asked about X-Men‘s Professor X possibly appearing, Superior Iron Man rumors, and the Illuminati, Palmer demurred. All he had to say? “I’ll quote the first X-Men movie and say, ‘Are you sure you saw what you saw?’… There are infinite versions of these characters, and just because you may have heard something familiar doesn’t mean it’s someone you have seen before.”
Additionally, he offered, “I would love to see Tony again, but some rumors are just rumors. I will say that I love the Illuminati. But if we ever introduce the Illuminati in the future, it might be more MCU-driven and have some more ties to our characters in the MCU, versus just replicating what’s in the comics.”
A lot said, and yet only more questions.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness releases May 6/ While we wait, we’ll be studying these new images very closely.
