Billy the Puppet misses you, apparently. While he’s the last figure that we’d want to see on a screen whilst stuck in a torture trap in real life, many horror fans enjoy watching this scenario play out with characters on the big screen. Jigsaw’s diabolical machinations in the Saw franchise have gone on for ten films, and now there is an eleventh movie happening. According to Entertainment Weekly, Saw 11 finally made it out of developmental darkness and is happening soon.
Saw posted a video on its X account of Billy riding his trademark tricycle by a script that says “Untitled Saw” along with “Directed by Mike P. Nelson.” It’s hard to believe that the franchise started back in 2004, bringing torture horror into the forefront of the genre. While subsequent installments did wear some viewers thin, the Saw franchise has enough of a following that people are still down for another movie. This film will be produced by Blumhouse and Atomic Monster, which puts James Wan back into creative power.
“Making the original Saw was a defining experience for me, so it was essential to find a director who would honor that world,” Wan said in a press release. “Mike has a raw, distinctive filmmaking voice with an inventive approach to the genre, and I believe he’ll bring something truly unique and special to the franchise.”
Nelson is ready to get into this wild world as well, saying, “Greg and Geoff and James have crafted such a wild script that brings the mystery of the original while exploring new insane bloody ideas that meld so well with the brutal moral compass of the franchise. Let the games begin!”
It is not clear when Saw 11 will release nor who its stars will be at this time. It’s been around three years since Saw X hit theaters, so perhaps we will see this next round in 2028.
