We all know about the mutants known as X-Men. The group of superheroes fights for the peaceful existence of humans and mutants in addition to inviting mutants into their ranks as they’re discovered. Often, mutants can be disguised as humans and go undetected. This leads to many opportunities to speculate on the potential historical mutants that we didn’t know were mutants at all. Enter: Santa Claus.
Santa Claus appeared as a mutant in a six-page X-Men short story where the crew is celebrating Christmas when Cerebro detects “the most powerful mutant ever.” They head to New York City to investigate this new mutant, discovering that it is, in fact, Santa.

Doesn’t it make sense that Santa’s powers are mutant abilities? How else could he deliver all of those presents and go down chimneys without getting burned? And how has he lived for so long? But on the flip side, do we really want to consider the fact that there’s a mutant so powerful he could destroy the Earth just for fun?
As Christmas approaches, be sure to keep in mind Santa’s extraordinary abilities. Maybe you should leave out some extra cookies and milk, just in case. After all, it’s better to be safe than sorry when it comes to being on the naughty or nice list!
