Last month, Ryan Reynolds took on the title role in the upcoming Detective Pikachu movie, but it won’t be the only comedic mystery on his film slate. The remake of Clue is officially going forward with Reynolds as one of the leading characters, and the screenwriters of Deadpool are also in talks to write the updated version. Deadline broke the story that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are potentially reteaming with Reynolds on Clue, which is the first film in a three-year deal that Reynolds has signed with 20th Century Fox. Reynolds is set to produce the remake of Clue in addition to starring it, but it’s currently unclear which role would be suitable for Reynolds to play. Back in 1985, director Jonathan Lynn and screenwriter John Landis adapted Clue into a feature film with an amazingly funny cast that included Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, Lesley Ann Warren, and Eileen Brennan. Although the movie wasn’t a hit at the box office, it’s reputation as a classic comedy has grown over time. We’re kind of tempted to suggest that Reynolds should also play Detective Pikachu in this film, just to give him his own bizarre cinematic universe. But if we had to choose a part from the original film, Reynolds could probably play either Wadsworth (Curry’s role) or Mr. Green, as portrayed by McKean. A director hasn’t been named yet, so it may be a while before the rest of the new cast falls into place.Which role do you think that Reynolds should play in the new version of Clue?
