The prophecy is coming true: streamers are re-inventing cable. Amazon has announced its first bundle subscription. It will combine five streaming services together into one.
Prime Video revealed that starting today for the first time ever customers can multiple streaming options to their account with just one additional subscription. You can now get AMC+, BritBox, MGM+, PBS Masterpiece, and STARZ added to your account for $29.99 a month. The collection’s official enrollment page says it will save customers $18.96 a month. But that is slightly misleading since it doesn’t include the cost of Prime itself. This bundle is only available to Prime Video subscribers. You can also a free 7-day trial if you want.
“Today marks a milestone for our customers, the launch of the first-ever five-service streaming bundle on Prime Video. Our subscriptions and bundles business continues to see incredible growth because we stay focused on delivering unmatched selection, value and convenience,” said Ryan Pirozzi, Head of Prime Video Channels, U.S., in a press release. “With AMC+, MGM+, BritBox, PBS Masterpiece, and STARZ together, Prime Video customers get the premium entertainment they love, all in one place.”

For younger readers who have grown up in a streaming world, this is how TV used to work. You paid one bill to gain access to many channels with many viewing options. If you wanted to add even more channels, you told that one company and they increased your singular bill. It sort of stunk and everyone complained about the price all the time. But it turns out it was vastly superior to having 37 different subscriptions that require just as many apps and cost more on the whole. Now we just have to wait for all the streamers to get together to truly recreate cable. It was always streaming’s destiny.
