There are some stories that will continue to get adaptations from now until the literal world ends. One of them is Pride and Prejudice, the Jane Austen novel that’s been adapted for many film, television, and theater productions. Netflix now has a Pride and Prejudice series coming in 2026 with Everything I Know About Love author Dolly Alderton to pen the script.
Emma Corrin will portray Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden will be Mr. Darcy. You’ll probably recognize him from Slow Horses or from his time as Sauron on The Rings of Power. Here’s the first teaser trailer for Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice series:
According to Alderton’s recent statement, it seems this film will follow the basic premise of the original story. “‘Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it. Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy – it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life. With Euros Lyn directing our stellar cast, I am so excited to reintroduce these hilarious and complicated characters to those who count Pride and Prejudice as their favourite book, and those who are yet to meet their Lizzie and Mr. Darcy.”

The complete cast list outside of the two leads is as follows:
- Olivia Colman (The Favourite, The Crown) will be Mrs Bennet
- Rufus Sewell (The Diplomat, Scoop) will be Mr Bennet
- Freya Mavor (Industry, La Dame Dans L’Auto) will be Jane Bennet
- Jamie Demetriou (Stath Lets Flats, Barbie) will be Mr Collins
- Daryl McCormack (Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery; Good Luck to You, Leo Grande) will be Mr Bingley
- Louis Partridge (House of Guinness, Disclaimer) will be Mr Wickham
- Rhea Norwood (Heartstopper, Cabaret) will be Lydia Bennet
- Siena Kelly (Black Mirror, Domino Day) will be Caroline Bingley
- Fiona Shaw (Killing Eve, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) will be Lady Catherine de Bourg
- Hopey Parish will make her screen debut as Mary Bennet
- Hollie Avery will make her screen debut as Kitty Bennet
Honestly, I don’t believe that there’s anything that can top the 2005 film with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfayden. But maybe this series will be enjoyable. Funnily enough, I enjoyed Pride & Prejudice: Atlanta on Lifetime, but that’s because Jackee Harry is a gem.
Fans better hope that it is a miniseries. The streaming service is becoming more known for cancelling shows after only one season that they are for content that boasts longevity. We will see what happens. There isn’t a firm release date for this series but it is coming in 2026.
