Watch PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS Premiere For Free

Penny Dreadful fans don’t have to wait any longer for more stories from this horror universe. The Penny Dreadful: City of Angels premiere episode is now available on YouTube and SHO.com. The series stars Natalie Dormer, Nathan Lane, Daniel Zovatto, Adriana Barraza, Lorenza Izzo, Jessica Garza, Rory Kinnear, and more in a story taking place decades after the events of Penny Dreadful. However, those who aren’t familiar with the flagship series can still get into Penny Dreadful: City of Angels because it is its own separate story with new characters.

The premiere episode takes place in 1938 Los Angeles during the Golden Age of Hollywood. A terrible murder leads detectives Tiago Vega (Zovatto) and Lewis Michener (Lane) down a path that’s filled with one big history lesson about Los Angeles and its connection to Mexican-American roots. There’s espionage, evangelism, and a battle against government officials.

Tiago’s family also plays a major role, specifically his mother Maria (Barraza) who pleads to the deity Santa Muerte (Izzo). Dormer portrays Magda, a supernatural demon who can shift into any chosen form. It will all lead to a dark supernatural psychological and life journey that will test the limits of the Vega family.

It’s not unusual for a brand-new series like Penny Dreadful: City of Angels to drop an episode a couple of days early to amp up excitement with the established fanbase. And it gives on-the-fence viewers a chance to see if they will want to commit to another series (and possibly another network or streaming service). The YouTube video’s pinned comment encourages fans to give Showtime a free try for 30 days—just long enough to get them hooked on this new Penny Dreadful series.

Penny Dreadful: City of Angels will still make its official debut on April 26 at 10 p.m. ET for those who want to wait for some live-tweet fun. But, if they just can’t hold out any longer, it’s time to head to the city of angels—and demons.
