Netflix has been releasing bunches of teasers and one explosive trailer for season 3 of Daredevil, and one thing is for sure: the do-good lawyer Matt Murdock/moral vigilante is no more. Matt is giving himself over fully to become the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, and he’s done playing nice. With his arch-nemesis Wilson Fisk out of prison, back on the street, and employing someone else to don Matt’s iconic red suit while besmirching Daredevil’s name, Matt is done trying to work within the confines of the law and morality to make sure he keeps Hell’s Kitchen safe. At New York Comic Con, we got a lot of great, new info on what to expect from season 3 of Daredevil. Not only did the cast give us a bit of a better peek into Matt’s transformation, but we got to hear about what we can expect from what is shaping up to be one of the darkest, most intense seasons yet. After the events of Defenders, Charlie Cox told audiences season 3 finds Matt at an all-time low, calling season 3 a sort of “convalescence” for Matt. He’s been beaten down (physically and emotionally), and is working to process his place in Hell’s Kitchen and the good he’s done (if any) since becoming the Devil. This period is going to introduce a hugely important new character to the Daredevil universe that fans of the comic know very well–Sister Maggie. Played by Joanne Whalley, she not only helps Matt physically heal but according to Charlie Cox, in their relationship she’ll be a sort of moral compass for Matt as he moves forward and processes if he has really done anything good for the people of Hell’s Kitchen. But Sister Maggie isn’t the only big, new character from the comics we’re meeting this season. We’ll be meeting FBI agent Benjamin Poindexter (Wilson Bethel), a man who will ultimately become the infamous villain Bullseye. While Netflix showed several clips during the panel that those at home won’t get to see, they did release this amazing clip introducing Agent Poindexter and the impending arrival of Bullseye. However, don’t expect to see him in his full Bullseye glory straight off the bat; instead we’ll see a sort of Bullseye origin story. Season 3 will take us on a moral journey that depicts how he goes from FBI agent to someone manipulated by Wilson Fisk that ultimately becomes this outrageous, deadly villain we all love to hate.Season 3 is going to be an amazing one, and we can’t wait to see the show introduce more backstory to some of our favorite characters and introduces several new, exciting faces. We’ll get a front row seat to the action when Daredevil returns to Netflix on October 19.Were you at the Daredevil panel at NYCC? What was your big takeaway from the panel? Let’s talk about season 3 in the comments below!
