As the home of Luke Skywalker and his father Anakin, the planet Tatooine is seen as the Star Wars Galaxy’s “home sweet home.” Even if that home is actually not really all that sweet, and filled with dangerous Sand People and giant Sarlaac Pits. In honor of this beloved planet, LEGO is releasing a pair of sets based on iconic elements from the desert world. One is based on Obi-Wan Kenobi’s desert hut, where he gave Luke his father’s fabled lightsaber. The other is Luke’s X-34 landspeeder. The very same speeder which took him to the spaceport of Mos Eisley, where his life would change forever.
Arriving in January 2020, the LEGO version of Obi-Wan’s Hut comes in a 200 piece set. The hut folds out for easy access and there are lots of cool items to spark kids’ creativity. Among them are lightsabers, a training remote, and a brand new Princess Leia hologram element to recreate the classic Star Wars: A New Hope scene. The set also includes iconic Star Wars characters Obi-Wan, Luke Skywalker and R2-D2, plus a Tusken Raider for role-play battles. No Banthas though.
Also coming in January of 2020 is Luke Skywalker’s X-34 Landspeeder model, coming in at 236 separate pieces. More detailed than ever before, there’s space for the Luke Skywalker and C-3PO minifigures, and an opening trunk with macrobinoculars inside. There’s also a clip for Luke’s blaster rifle to inspire creative play for young Star Wars fans. And kids can reimagine Star Wars: A New Hope movie action with the buildable cave hideout for an armed Jawa minifigure.
Both LEGO sets will set you back $29.99 each, and are for ages 7 and up. Both of these sets will be displayed to the public for the first time at the LEGO booth at San Diego Comic-Con this summer.
