MURDER HOUSE FLIP Combines True Crime and Home Renovation

Basic cable is filled with house flipping reality shows and true crime documentaries. Finally, it seems someone has had the genius notion to combine both things into one. Beginning on April 6, the new streaming platform Quibi will premiere Murder House Flip. And it is exactly what it sounds like it is—a home-renovation show in which the houses were previously the site of horrific crimes.

Quibi has released a trailer for the series, which you can watch down below:

If you’re a fan of true crime series, this show might be impossible to resist. Yes, the entire premise is kind of tacky. But it’s also fascinating. I think I’ll watch just to see what kind of person wants to live there. Whether one believes in ghosts or not, I can’t imagine the energy around a place where possibly multiple murders occurred can be any good. Although judging from the trailer, the man showing one couple around the house clearly finds even just being there creepy as hell. And I don’t blame him!

Former CSI executive producer Josh Berman is producing the upcoming Quibi series. So it looks as if he’s trading in all those grisly fake crime scenes for some real ones. According to the show’s official description, “Homeowners will turn to high-end renovation experts, Mikel Welch and Joelle Uzyel, to remove the stains of the past and take these homes from morbid to marvelous.” The “stains of the past” in this instance are presumably blood and not spilled wine from a dinner party.

The new Quibi streaming platform is designed to stream shows in “quick bites,” hence the name. Everything will be short, between five to ten minutes long. Murder Flip House will be one of the 50 shows premiering when the platform launches on April 6.
