MOTHER OF FLIES Trailer: Cronenbergian Body Horror Meets Witchy Folk Terror

Having to face a terminal diagnosis is unfortunately a reality for far too many people. Some people choose to accept their fate and make the best of their remaining days. Others choose to look into different things, perhaps alternative medicine, to try to buy themselves a little more time. But one thing that no one should do is find a dark and creepy witch in the woods to heal their deadly diagnosis. Sure, she can probably get you right again but all magic comes with a price. That’s exactly the story behind Mother of Flies, a Shudder film with a delightfully disturbing trailer.

This film is by the Adams Family. No, not that creepy and kooky clan. This Adams Family is all about crafting horror stories, and we love that. In the clip, Zelda Adams portrays Mickey, a woman facing a tough diagnosis. She goes into the woods with her father (John Adams) to meet a witch (Tobey Poser) who can cure her ailment. And, in true horror fashion, things go very, very wrong. Here’s the synopsis for Mother of Flies to go along with the trailer:

Mickey (Zelda Adams) faces a deadly diagnosis, but she isn’t ready to die yet. Heading into the woods with her father (John Adams), she seeks dark magic at the hands of mysterious recluse, Solveig (Toby Poser) , who has an intimate relationship with death and roots that go deep in the land. For three days, Mickey endures Solveig’s extreme rituals of death magic. But every cure has its cost, and every curse is another’s gift. As buried secrets claw their way to the surface, the veil between the living and the dead begins to unravel, and Mickey finds herself facing dark truths that only the dead and the dying can know.

What Is the Release Date for Mother of Flies

Shudder

Honestly, I think it’s so dope to craft and make a film with your entire family in it. This movie is directed by John Adams, Zelda Adams, and Toby Poser. It stars John Adams, Lulu Adams, Zelda Adams, and Toby Poser.

And, to make things even cooler, the music in Mother of Flies is by their family band H6LLB6ND6R. As I always do, I will be rooting for the magical woman in the woods. Mother of Flies will stream on Shudder on January 23.
