Have you ever wondered what it might feel like to be a ghost? How lonely it must be to wander aimlessly and between life and death, through the margins of a world that has begotten your physical form? What would you do all day? Who would you haunt? Or, more terrifyingly, what if—in addition to being super dead—you were also being stalked by a troupe of ghost hunters hellbent on forcing you out of the mortal realm and into… well, wherever ghosts go next?
That’s the premise of Midnight Ghost Hunt, a new multiplayer game from developer Mellowsoft which had its trailer debut today at E3 2019. This thing looks super rad and extremely unique, like stepping into a horror adventure movie and assuming the role of either the hunter or the hunted. Check it out!
Here’s the official premise from the Midnight Ghost Hunt website:
Play as either Ghosts or Ghost Hunters against other players.
The Ghosts hide inside inconspicuous furniture and hurl themselves at invading Hunters.
The Hunters must find and destroy all of the Ghosts before the clock strikes MIDNIGHT.
At MIDNIGHT, all dead Ghosts return as vengeful spirits!
The tables turn, the Hunters become the Hunted!
They must try to survive the Ghost onslaught until they can escape.
So not only can you play a ghost, but you can play a ghost go goes vengeful after midnight. (Why are we suddenly thinking of Gremlins?) Or, if fidgeting with fancy ghost-tracking machinery and dressing in a red hazmat suit is more your style, you can suit up as a hunter instead. Either way, this immersive experience sounds like a fun, spooky time, one that’s sure to send shivers down your spine.
Midnight Ghost Hunt will be available on Alpha later this summer.
