It’s official McDonald’s has entered its “villain era” just in time for Halloween. To celebrate 40 years of Halloween Boo Buckets, McDonalds has brought back their iconic candy buckets with a twist.
The franchise is partnering with Disney for the best Boo Buckets yet. Starting tomorrow with a purchase of a happy meal you will receive a Disney Villain Boo Bucket.

Featured on each Boo Bucket are fan-favorite Disney Villain charters: Jafar, Ursula, Scar, Cruella and Maleficent. Each bucket comes with exclusive stickers to match the characters on the bucket. True fans will recognize the symbolism behind each sticker.
The colors on each bucket are electric! The buckets reflect each villain’s signature colors: purple for Ursula, red for Jafar, orange for Scar, black and white for Cruella, and green for Maleficent, inspired by the original Sleeping Beauty animated film. Every bucket will share a yellow handle with the classic McDonalds arches on the inside of the bucket.
The McDonald’s Boo Buckets originated in 1986 as “Halloween Pumpkin Happy Meals,” with three pumpkin shaped buckets in their own design. Since then the fast-food chain has released buckets with glow-in-the-dark features, Halloween inspired cookie cutters and so much more.

McDonald’s stopped making the Halloween staple after 2016, but after years of customer demands the franchise brought them back in 2022. While this is the first time the Boo Buckets have been movie inspired since 2022, McDonalds loyalists remember the Scooby-Doo, Monster High, Minion and Peanuts collaborations.
The Boo Buckets will launch at participating franchises Tuesday, October 20, while supplies last. If you ask me this is a steal, now you don’t have to worry about finding a candy bucket.
I’m definitely more excited about the bucket than the meal, now I have somewhere to store my secret candy stash. And if I’m lucky I’ll get Cruella DeVil.
