MASS EFFECT LEGENDARY EDITION Gets a May Release Date

Get ready to relive the legend of Commander Shepard. BioWare previously announced Mass Effect Legendary Edition and now they’ve unveiled the release date and additional details. But first, you should watch the official reveal trailer to get a taste of this edition’s remastered 4K Ultra HD. It’s pretty gorgeous. See for yourself:

Now that those important visuals are out of the way, let’s get into details. Mass Effect Legendary Edition launches on May 14, 2021 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It’s forward compatible so you’ll be able to play it on your PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The package includes all single-player base content from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3. That means players get all the promo weapons, armors, and packs from those installments in glorious 4K. From the unified front menu, you’ll be able to choose between the three games and as usual, the choices you make in the games will follow your character throughout the trilogy.

And additionally, Legendary Edition has more than 40 pieces of downloadable content.

EA stated that the entire collection has “remastered character models and tens of thousands of up-rezzed textures. Improvements to shaders and VFX, updated lighting and improved dynamic shadows, volumetrics and depth-of-field.” So while the game’s user interfaces have been overhauled and the visuals have been updated, this is still more of a remaster than a total remake. The story isn’t wildly different. But it is a significant upgrade for the look and gameplay.

And Mass Effect Legendary Edition does have one new aspect: updated character customization. EA revealed the edition will have “improved and expanded selection of hair, makeup, and skin tone options.”

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is available for pre-order now.
