Could a live-action The Legend of Zelda movie be among the most-anticipated live-action video game adaptations ever? It feels like fans have been clamoring for a The Legend of Zelda movie for as long as I can remember. And since the first The Legend of Zelda movie released in 1986, I bet fans have hoped for a live-action movie even longer than that. And now, a live-action The Legend of Zelda movie is finally happening, and it’s so real that it even has a release date. Yes, The Legend of Zelda movie is coming to our screens on March 26, 2027. And that’s the official, official date.
How do we know?
Well, Nintendo itself released the release date of The Legend of Zelda live-action movie on its new app, Nintendo Today. So far we know that Avi Arad will produce the movie and Wes Ball will direct it. The film will be co-financed by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Nintendo. There have not yet been any casting, story reveals, or much other information available about The Legend of Zelda live-action movie.

I have been working on the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda for many years now with Avi Arad-san, who has produced many mega hit films. I have asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production. It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it.”
We certainly do look forward to seeing it, and even more so now that we know the Zelda adaptation’s release date.
