Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me. The Kingdom Hearts IIIOpens in a new tab (KH3) trailer debuted at Sony’s E3 Expo press conference on Monday evening began with those familiar notes, leaving no doubts about the latest world revealed for the upcoming game. On the heels of announcing the Frozen addition to the titleOpens in a new tab during Sunday’s Microsoft conference, Square Enix revealed Pirates of the CaribbeanOpens in a new tab is back. And this time, the live-action rendering looks much improved compared to Kingdom Hearts II‘s Port Royal setting. Watch the action in the trailer below:
The best part about a new Pirates-inspired world? Sora, Donald, and Goofy get themed costumes, which I am entirely in favor of.
As exciting as the confirmation of yet another location is, let’s focus on some of the other tidbits in the trailer. Xehanort’s multiple forms are coming together and plotting–his Heartless and his Nobody, a.k.a. Fake Ansem and Xemnas–and this is exceptionally bad news. Riku and Dark Riku are seemingly in the same place. And while in Arendelle, Organization XIII member Larxene hinteed to Sora and co. that she’s gathering seven new pure lights, seven new hearts. Gulp. So, presumably, she’s after Elsa to collect her hearts, in addition to more princesses. Plus, Axel/Lea and Kairi. What?!

Kingdom Hearts III will be available on January 29, 2019. Read about everything we know so farOpens in a new tab .
