One of the biggest revelations to take place during the latter half of the 10-year Marvel Cinematic Universe saga has been Tom Holland. His version of Peter Parker is exuberant, positive, and above all prone to making mistakes. He’s a kid, after all, doing his best and becoming a hero in spite of it. The actor seems to share some of those traits; he’s routinely dinged for spoiling things when promoting whatever Marvel movie’s coming down the pike. It’s a major no-no. While Mark Ruffalo’s done it a bit, Holland has made it a cottage industry.
Nobody knows this more than Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame co-director Joe Russo. While in India for a fan screening/hype-building of the Marvel films, Russo told the crowd:
“Tom Holland does not get the script. Tom Holland gets his lines and that’s all he gets. He’s doesn’t even know who he’s acting opposite. We use very vague terms to describe to him what is happening in the scene. Tom Holland has a hard time keeping his mouth shut.”

While we certainly don’t think Russo was one hundred percent serious about this–Holland surely gets a script–it’s testament to how blabby the actor is about everything Marvel. And we get it! He’s excited. But he does have a track record of spoiling things like the title of the next Spider-Man movie. And the ending of Infinity War… at a screening of Infinity War. And since Benedict Cumberbatch can’t be around him at all times, it’s perhaps best to just keep him in the dark.
