This year marks the tenth anniversary of Steve Gabry’s Sally Face, an indie horror puzzle game. Now, longtime fans are ecstatic to see the game getting a well-deserved second installment.
Conceived, written, and designed by one man, Sally Face gained popularity as chapters came out. From YouTube exposure to social media clout, it grew to have the sizable audience it does today.

We got our first look at the new game in June, when Gabry revealed an image of Ashley, whose face now shows the effects of the final battle from the fifth chapter of Sally Face. It seemed she was blind in one eye, and the left side of her hair had gone white.
Now, after PortableMoose gave us that crumb, the official teaser trailer for Sally Face 2 is the entire cake.
The teaser shows us a decrepit, abandoned Nockfell. We see an out-of-use gas station and what little is left of the Addison Apartments. Ashley and Todd are adventuring together, shown standing outside a big city, clearly not the small town of Nockfell, but still appearing to be abandoned.
After the end of the fifth chapter of Sally Face, we know that the plague of shadows didn’t just affect Nockfell. It killed off a third of the world’s population. This game seems to be a post-apocalyptic adventure following Ashley and Todd.

However. Not all hope is lost for Sal. We see him in a shot interacting with Ashley. He looks as he did at the end of the fifth chapter: fragmented and trapped in the afterlife. The text on the screen tells us that “even death holds no solace” for him. In the last few seconds of the teaser, though, we see him regain his solid form, wearing a purple cloak over his typical red pant black shirt attire.

The teaser leaves fans with more questions than answers. Where the cult is, what challenges the post-apocalyptic world presents, and whether or not Sal is returning as a full-fledged, playable main character. I could go on.
Unfortunately, the devs have not yet announced a release date. Considering PortableMoose is still a very small team (only four people!), it could take a little bit. Antsy fans will have to find some way to entertain themselves. In the meantime, if you’ve never played the first game, I highly recommend going back and playing it in preparation for this release. Sally Face 2 is available for wishlisting on Steam.
