HEROES Reboot in the Works From Original Creator Tim Kring

Wait. I have to check my calendar. Could it be 2006? That’s the only explanation for Heroes coming back to my screens, right? But alas, it is not. Instead, it is a case of everything old is new again. But perhaps in 2026 (there’s no date yet; it’s just a play on numbers), we’ll get more Heroes. According to Deadline, Heroes creator Tim Kring is working on a new version of the series. This new reboot will be titled Heroes: Eclipsed. That’s an apt name for a show we first heard about directly after a major solar eclipse. Here’s what we know.

Tim Kring is rebooting Heroes, original cast

Deadline reveals, “Written by Kring, Heroes: Eclipsed is set years after the events of the original series as new evos are being awakened and discovering powers that will change their lives. Featuring familiar villains and new enemies who once again will be attempting to suppress this next step in human evolution, it will be up to this new group of heroes to save the world.” Familiar villains, you say. If Kring can get Zachary Quinto’s Sylar back in the game, we’re absolutely in. Although many know Quinto as Spock from the Star Trek movies, he’ll always be the menacing Sylar to me. We also wouldn’t mind seeing Milo Ventimiglia’s Peter Petrelli return to the story either, or Sendhil Ramamurthy’s Dr. Mohinder Suresh.

Zachary Quinto as Sylar on Heroes

Of course, fans will know Heroes was already rebooted once under the title of Heroes: Reborn. But that reboot only lasted for one season. Heroes itself ran for four seasons. But there’s a lingering sensation around the property that it’s the one that got away. Heroes‘ first season was an absolute sensation, but then it ran headlong into a writer’s strike and never recovered that magic. Maybe this Heroes: Eclipsed reboot from Tim Kring will finally unlock the timeline where Heroes is a long-term hit. We at least hope it learned not to overstuff its episodes with new characters at every turn.

As the saying goes, save the cheerleader, save the world! Maybe a Heroes reboot will save us all.
