The Witcher star Henry Cavill is super into gaming. He’s even been painting Warhammer 40k miniatures while stuck at home during recent shelter in place orders. He told GQ in a December interview that he was particularly into Total War: Warhammer II. Cavill invested hundreds of hours into the title from Creative Assembly, playing as six different races. And now Cavill is an Easter egg in new Warhammer II downloadable content (DLC).
PCGamesN spotted the Easter egg while playing the latest DLC, “The Warden and The Paunch” (available on May 21). They ran into a Loremaster of Hoeth named Cavill. The character is a High Elf (perfect, honestly) who possesses some traits that line up with those of Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher. He even has a trait called White Wolf, which gives him a large bonus when fighting large opponents. The text for the trait is “Wind’s howling.” It’s something Geralt says frequently in The Witcher 3 game.

And lest you think the name “Cavill” is a coincidence, the game’s director has confirmed the nod to the actor. Richard Aldridge told PCGamesN he noted Cavill’s enthusasim for all things Warhammer. Aldridge said, “When I saw a certain Mr. Cavill mention that he enjoys nothing more than firing up Total War: Warhammer or painting a few models in his spare time, I thought it would be fun to somehow inject him into the game, like we have with a number of developers over the years. You might even spot me. With ‘the Warden and the Paunch’ coming up, it felt like a good time to include Henry, and what better way than having a mighty Loremaster of Hoeth by your side with a few personal special traits to play with when starting a campaign as Eltharion?”
This is a cool enough Easter egg to make even Geralt of Rivia smile. Here’s hoping Cavill shares footage of him encounter Cavill the Loremaster in the game.
