Although he’s one of DC Comics’ oldest and best known heroes, the last few years have found Hawkman mostly staying out of the spotlight. But in last year’s Dark Nights Metal crossover event, the Winged Wonder came back with a vengeance, and is now set to take his place among the greatest heroes of the DC universe once again.
Hawkman has led many lives, and has been a member of both the Justice Society of America and the Justice League. He’s been an Egyptian pharaoh, a gunslinger in the Old West, and an alien police officer. (Or was that a whole different person? We told you Hawkman’s past is cray-cray!) Now, the winged hero is just trying to untangle his own wild and crazy personal history, and figure out his place in the world. The new Hawkman series is coming to us from Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps writer Robert Venditti, and with amazing art from former Ultimates and Justice League of America illustrator Bryan Hitch. Together, they plan to usher in a new era for Carter Hall, the archaeologist and Nth Metal warrior who links the DC universe’s distant past with its present and future.
You can check out the first six pages from Hawkman #1, along with the variant cover from Stjepan Sejic, down below in our gallery. The regular cover by Bryan Hitch can be seen above.
