Hawkeye Fan Film Brings Fraction/Aja Comic Book to Life

Fan films pour love into every frame of their work. This particular fan film, “Hawkeye” by One Riot One Ranger Productions, obviously has a lot of love for Matt Fraction and David Aja’s run of Hawkeye.

If you haven’t picked up the Marvel comic, you can get a sense of what it’s is about from this 7-minute fan film. Snappy dialog. The Russian track-suited mafia. A friendship between Clint Barton (Hawkeye) and Kate Bishop (also Hawkeye).

And Lucky the Pizza Dog. Don’t forget Lucky. After all, the one-shot issue from Lucky’s point of view, Hawkeye #11 “Pizza Is My Business,” won both the 2014 Eisner and Harvey Awards for “Best Single Issue or Story.”

In this fan film, Kate and Clint bicker over his lack of readiness to go to “the thing.” In what is obviously a move to piss Kate off, Clint takes Lucky for a walk. What starts as a simple chore becomes a confrontation between Russian mobsters.

Arrows will be fired. Oh yes.

A thumbs up to the person who designed the credits, which match the look of Aja’s art perfectly. But a thumbs down for not crediting Lucky the Pizza Dog. Pizza Dogs need love too.
