HANNA TV Series Adaptation Shares Its First Teaser

Joe Wright’s gorgeous contemporary fairytale Hanna became an instant cult classic when it was released in 2011. The film focused on a young girl raised by her father to be the perfect killing machine and starred Saoirse Ronan as the titular teen. We’re big fans of the original so we were intrigued when Amazon announced that they would be adapting the film into a series starring Joel Kinnaman, Mireille Enos, and Esme Creed-Miles as Hanna herself. On Friday, we got our first glimpse at the show with this very interesting trailer which hints at a dark tone and gives us a little tease of Hanna’s origins.

The original film was a beautiful and haunting story that played with our expectations and ideas of teenage girlhood, all the while trying to tenderly explore it in the face of huge violence. Ronan starred alongside Eric Bana as her father who will be brought to life by Kinnaman in the series, and faced down Cate Blanchett’s terrifying Marissa, who will be given a new life by Kinnaman’s The Killing co-star Enos.Esme Creed-Miles is a relative newcomer with only a few credits under her belt, but we cannot wait to see what the young actress is going to bring to the iconic role. From Amazon’s official description it sounds like we’ll be getting an expanded exploration of Hanna’s life after leaving the forests of Eastern Europe, and a jet-setting adventure around Europe. After this great teaser, frankly we cannot wait. Hanna is headed to our screens in March.
