Goosebumps creator and horror novelist R.L. Stine made his comic book debut last year with a Man-Thing limited series for Marvel Comics.
However, Stine is far from finished with the comic book medium; he’s poised for his first original graphic novel in 2019 from Boom! Studios.
Stine has signed a multi-year deal with Boom! Studios to write four graphic novels as part of a supernatural horror series aimed at middle grade readers. Stine’s currently untitled project will be published under the KaBoom! banner, and the first story will be released in fall 2019. Boom! may release additional details about Stine’s new horror comics next week at San Diego Comic-Con.Stine is best known for his Goosebumps series of horror novels for young readers, which spawned a TV series and two theatrical movies, including a sequel that is currently in production. Stine is also the creator of the Fear Street novels; he has written over 100 books over the course of his career.
While Boom! Studios’ deal with Stine will cover his original works, they will not include Goosebumps comics. IDW picked up the Goosebumps comic rights last year, and Stine is not directly involved with that adaptation.
