Google Unveils Stadia for a November 2019 Release

E3 2019 news is already starting! The gaming console from Google has finally been unveiled—but it’s not a console at all. Stadia is a streaming platform that brings some of your favorite games and exciting new titles to your TV, computer, and Pixel devices. All you need to start playing in 4K HDR is the Stadia Founder’s Edition, which includes both the Chromecast Ultra and a limited edition controller, coming this November.

The Founder’s Edition, priced at just $129, also includes three months of the Stadia Pro service and a Buddy Pass for three-months of service to get your friend in the game. They’ll need to pick up their own controller, which will be available in three different colors at launch.

Google will offer two tiers of streaming service, Stadia Pro for $9.99 a month at launch (4K/60fps/HDR with 5.1 surround sound) or the free Stadia Base service in 2020 (1080p/60fps with stereo sound). For a limited time, players who pick up the Founder’s Edition will get free access to the Destiny 2 bas game and expansions. You can even transfer your Guardian from PC and Xbox.

Players with Stadia Pro will also get discounts on the service’s streaming game library, which will include these titles at launch and more:

  • Baldur’s Gate III
  • Destiny 2
  • The Elder Scrolls Online
  • The Crew 2
  • The Division 2
  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Mortal Kombat 11

Take a look at the Google Stadia website for an up-to-date list for the games you’ll be able to play at launch, which Google says will be at least 30.

While only available to 14 countries in North America and Europe at launch, the gaming service is planned to expand to more regions and devices in the future.

For an even deeper dive into the new gaming experience, take a look at the Stadia Connect presentation for all the details.
