In a stroke of genius for a game that’s already a contender for the year’s best, Santa Monica Studio updated God of War recently with a photo mode that turns game screenshots into works of art.
The incredible graphics can make for some stunning captures, but even more amazing, photo mode includes facial expressions for Kratos and Atreus that can be downright hysterical. Kratos isn’t just the God of War anymore; he’s also the God of Selfies, from snapshots with towering foes looming behind him to cheesy grins with Atreus. To access the photo mode in God of War, select it from the Options menu (where you can set it as a hot key) and use the L2 and R2 buttons to move the camera. If you’re the type who enjoys messing with the filters in Instagram, you’re going to love the next step. Santa Monica Studio went all out for photo mode, allowing you choose everything from focal length, to depth of field, to brightness, and more.
Best of all, you can select the facial expressions for Kratos and the Boy, changing their faces from growls and grins and setting the mood of your shot instantly.
Players have been sharing their carefully captured snapshots of the characters, with some truly epic panoramas and hilarious screenshots that look like they came from a blooper reel. Here are just a few of our favorites that we’ve found so far.
