Once upon a time, commercials were all extremely catchy and funny. We actually didn’t mind those breaks and, to this day, many of us Gen Xers and Millennials can quote lines from the commercials of our childhood. One of those famous slogans was by Glad, the company known for making some pretty tough trash bags. Back in 1987, the company coined the promotional phrase “Don’t Get Mad. Get Glad.” as an ode to their product. Now, Glad is bringing back that slogan and its new commercial includes none other than Sesame Street’s Oscar the Grouch. 
It is a collaboration that makes a ton of sense for obvious reasons. Who better to promote a product relating to trash than our grumpy friend who resides in a literal trash bin? The commercial reimagines Glad’s 1987 commercial with a delightful twist.
There’s an original musical number that expresses Oscar’s love of trash, aptly titled “I Love Trash – The Remix feat. Oscar the Grouch.” While he can be mad all day long, we don’t have to be because Glad products will keep us from dealing with rips, stinky smells, or leaks that cause a mess.
It is a call indeed to not get mad but instead get Glad trash bags. And, even if you’re a Hefty supporter, you’ll still love the pure nostalgia of this Glad commercial with Oscar the Grouch.
