Fred Savage Talks “Bed Acting” in ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL

With all the big nerdy content coming out this holiday season in movie theaters, it’s almost easy to forget that Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool is also coming back to the big screen this Christmas, with the upcoming Once Upon a Deadpool, essentially a PG-13 re-cut of Deadpool 2, retold “through the filter of childlike innocence.”  And we already know that it has one of the best gags in any of the Deadpool movies thus far, as Once Upon a Deadpool features actor Fred Savage, essentially reprising his famous role as the “Grandson” in The Princess Bride.[brightcove video_id=”5976991829001″ brightcove_account_id=”3653334524001″ brightcove_player_id=”rJs2ZD8x”]Nerdist sent Deadpool super fan Coy Jandreau to sit down with the former Wonder Years star, who, unlike some former child actors, seemingly has no problem having a laugh at his own youthful image from decades ago. Among the things they chat about is the level of detail the producers of Once Upon a Deadpool went to in recreating his childhood bedroom set from The Princess Bride. Just in the clips we’ve seen so far, we can tell how close to the real thing these sets are. Fred even has the same vintage Masters of the Universe action figures displayed in his room that he did in the original film. (Nice touch there, Fox. This ’80s kid appreciates it).Once Upon a Deadpool hits theaters theaters on December 12, and will run through Christmas Eve. We’re all pretty excited for it, even if we simply can’t condone the film’s support for Nickelback. The line must be drawn somewhere.
