We wouldn’t expect anything less than a stellar final episode from a Star Wars show. And Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s finale did not disappoint. The last episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi delivered us as much closure as we could hope for from a mid-timeline show. And it gave us a heavy dose of feels, plus of course, many Easter eggs. Here are all the Star Wars references and Easter eggs we spotted in Obi-Wan Kenobi episode six.
Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s last episode offered a thoughtful goodbye to all of our favorite characters. All the while it threaded in quotes and callbacks to other parts of the franchise. Of course, the big battle between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan echoed their Revenge of the Sith altercation. We see Obi-Wan adopt his signature Soresu lightsaber position and the battle begins. But this time, Darth Vader responds “You will die” instead of “You will try” to Obi-Wan’s “I will do what I must.” It’s a terrifying update to their Mustafar battle conversation.
Darth Vader even takes the high ground for a moment, sending Obi-Wan into the earth and piling rocks onto him. Vader looms over Obi-Wan, the way Obi-Wan stood over him in Revenge of the Sith, but the victory is short-lived. Although Luke will later tell Rey in The Last Jedi that the Force is not just about floating rocks, Obi-Wan missed that memo.
As the fight nears its end, Obi-Wan slashes the mask off of Darth Vader’s face echoing the Star Wars Rebels episode “Twilight of the Apprentice.” In the Rebels episode, Ahsoka destroys Darth Vader’s mask in a similar way. Then she learned what Anakin has become. Obi-Wan learns who Anakin is here, too, in a different kind of way.
But Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s final episode isn’t just about another lightsaber duel between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader. We also get plenty of emotional moments as Reva returns to the light side of the Force and drops her lightsaber in the sands of Tatooine (a time-honored tradition), Obi-Wan meets Luke with an epic “Hello there,” Leia dons a gown reminiscent of her A New Hope look, and Qui-Gon Jinn’s Force ghost finally arrives on Obi-Wan Kenobi. (Of course, the insidious Emperor Palpatine also made a cameo appearance as well, but we won’t give him too much time in the sun.)
With that, the latest Star Wars show has come to a close. But we’re sure there’s at least one Easter egg out there you haven’t spotted in Obi-Wan Kenobi… So it’s probably already time for a rewatch.
