Eric Kripke Says THE BOYS Will Not Have Massive Battle Scenes

If you’re looking for large scale CGI fights in The Boys’ fifth and final season, you’re going to be disappointed. Showrunner Eric Kripke told SFX Magazine that there will be some major confrontations, but there won’t be Game of Thrones level battles in The Boys season five because they don’t have that kind of money. However, he hopes The Boys season finale will be “cathartic and emotionally satisfying” for fans.

“I mean, there are not full battle scenes because we still don’t have Game of Thrones‘ budget, but there are a lot of very direct confrontations,” said Kripke, “A lot of the people that you want to see smashing into each other smash into each other. I hope it’s cathartic and emotionally satisfying, but I’m a tiny bit terrified.”

Things are certainly at a peak friction point with Homelander in charge of America. He’s evil, erratic, and quite insane, and we cannot imagine that will get any better. More than half of the Boys are locked in a “freedom camp” for opposing a supe-ruled regime, Butcher is a rogue agent of chaos, and Annie is just out here trying her best. What a time to be alive!

We are sure that Homelander and Butcher will have multiple rounds of battles, and they may both die by the time it is all over. The Boys doesn’t need Game of Thrones level battles to succeed anyway. Flying supes, laser eyes, tentacles, and a tense fight to save America is more than enough to keep us entertained.
