Enter THE ADVENTURE ZONE with a New Graphic Novel Series (Exclusive)

The Adventure Zone is one of our favorite podcasts. There’s nothing quite like listening to a family playing some Dungeons & Dragons together. It’s fun, funny, and instantly memorable for anybody who grew up rolling some dice with their friends and loved ones. We’re very excited to announce that our friends at First Second Books are releasing a graphic novel based on the quests of The Adventure Zone podcast. The Adventure Zone: Here There Be Gerblins by brothers Griffin McElroy, Justin McElroy, Travis McElroy, and their father Clint McElroy, and illustrated by Carey Pietsch is a full-color graphic novel series based upon the insanely popular podcast. And it looks fantastic. We asked the McElroys to tell us how excited they are about this new project and, in typical The Adventure Zone style, they had trouble saying anything serious. “To paraphrase John McClane: ‘Let’s get together. Have a few laughs. Play some D&D.’,” Clint said. “Little did I know that would lead to me sharing a stage with my sons at the Wilbur Theater in Boston, seeing myself rendered in plastic as a three-and-a-half foot tall Beach Dwarf, and meeting thousands of the most adoring and adorable fans I have ever encountered. And now a graphic novel? My parole officer is never going to believe it.”Artist Pietsch is excited to jump into The Adventure Zone world, too. “On a selfish level: this is a dream project to get to work on,” she said. “This show is very special to me. I fell into a hole of designing characters and making fan art for The Adventure Zone last year and just never left, and it’s been a real treat to get to know the passionate fan community because of it. For everyone who, like me, is already a fan of The Adventure Zone, I’m excited to further develop the world and characters you already know and love.”You can scope out some preview pages below and get ready for all the dice-rolling action when the book launches next year. We’re as excited as dwarf swimming in a sea of mead.
