Your players might complain sometimes that their characters feel cursed when a dice roll doesn’t go their way. Thanks to Jason Bakos and Themis Paraskevas, though, you can actually curse them with maladies that are either mundane or magical! The Malady Workshop, now on the Dungeon Masters Guild, is a supplement put together by medical students who dream about disease. Fantastical, magical diseases, that is.
A mad mage shares his forbidden secrets for crafting diseases in these pages. The book includes guidelines for maladies, from origin to contagion to cure, with suggestions for symptoms and diseases. Some of the more delightful diseases sound like they’ve come from J.K. Rowling’s whimsical world, like a fire-spewing cough, while others are just downright nasty.
Armed with symptoms and transmission methods, the Dungeon Master can easily add some suspense to a campaign by weaving an entire storyline around a magical, curse-like disease spreading across the land, or by giving the players a quick jaunt to save a village from a tainted well.
The Mad Mage has chosen you as his apprentice!
You will now learn how to craft horrifying diseases and with them, you will tell evocative stories and excite your players!
