Remember when Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller pummeled each other with dodgeballs for the sake of our entertainment? That’s what we got way back in 2004 with Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story as Pete LaFleur and his arch nemesis White Goodman went head to head with the former coming out on top. The film gives LaFleur quite the happy ending as he wins the money to save his struggling Average Joe’s Gym while Goodman goes into a deep depression. We thought that was the end but we were apparently wrong. According to Deadline, Vince Vaughn will star in (and maybe produce) a Dodgeball sequel with Jordan VanDina penning the script.
The Dodgeball sequel is in early development with 20th Century Studios and will continue LaFleur’s story. It’s not clear if Stiller or the first film’s writer/director, Rawson Marshall Thurber, will return for the Dodgeball sequel at this point. It would be fun to see what’s going on with Goodman years later, especially after that fun charity cast reunion they did back in 2017. Or perhaps it is time for a new enemy to stand in LaFleur’s path of continued success. Looks like the game is back on again.
