Doctor Who feels like it is in a very uncertain space right now, generally speaking. We don’t know who the next Doctor will be after seeing Billie Piper pop up following Ncuti Gatwa’s regeneration at the end of last season. The BBC and Disney+ have parted ways and ended their partnership, but the former says it is committed to the series. There’s a 2026 Christmas special coming that will provide some answers but it is not clear if Russell T Davies will continue with the show after that. But one thing is for sure. You have a new place to watch the modern years of the series. AMC+ now has exclusive rights to Doctor Who (2005-2022) starting on June 11.

Prior to this, Doctor Who’s modern era, which began in 2005 with the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler, was available to stream on Disney+. And, before July 2025, you could also stream those episodes on HBO Max. But now, you’ll only be able to watch Doctor Who on AMC+, which makes sense. AMC Networks gained full rights to BBC America a couple of years ago and now that the Doctor Who deal with Disney is done, there’s no need for it to be streaming there anymore. The Classic era of Doctor Who (1963-1989) will likely remain on Britbox, Pluto, and perhaps Tubi.
“Doctor Who is one of the most beloved franchises in television, with a fanbase that spans generations,” said Lawrence Szabo, EVP of Content Sales, North America & LatAm, BBC Studios. “AMC+ has built a differentiated home for premium genre franchises and deeply engaged fandoms, making it the ideal exclusive U.S. streaming partner for these 13 seasons of Doctor Who. We’re excited to bring these adventures back to longtime U.S. fans and welcome new audiences into the Whoniverse. Allons-y!”
AMC is offering a limited time, one year subscription to AMC+ for $29.99. So if you’ve been wanting to watch more Doctor Who, now is your chance to nab a subscription. And, you’ll be able to also check out hit shows like Interview with the Vampire (now The Vampire Lestat) and all The Walking Dead Universe.
