After Critical Role’s success with its animated series, The Legend of Vox Machina, its second show, set 20 years later, The Mighty Nein, made quite a splash in November 2025. The show, described by our own Dan Casey as “dark fantasy,“ received a glowing review from our team. Every aspect of the fantastical animated world was point-perfect, including its sound. And that’s why, today, we’re thrilled to exclusively reveal that The Mighty Nein soundtrack is getting a limited-edition vinyl release.
Neal Acree, the same composer who worked on Vox Machina, created a soundtrack for the new series, which Critical Role CEO Travis Willingham called “Tron meets fantasy.” Two things we like a lot. Now, as mentioned, we have some exclusive insights into the new form The Mighty Nein soundtrack is taking: a limited-edition vinyl package from Lakeshore Records.
The Mighty Nein soundtrack package will include a 2xLP “Gold & Cobalt” vinyl in a gatefold cover that will hold inner sleeves and liner notes, both covered in blue-tinted artwork from the show. Combined, the two records will include a total of 28 tracks, with 14 on each. The cover itself is also decorated top to bottom with Mighty Nein characters. We’ve listed the tracks below to get you excited about what you might expect to hear AND to remind you of all the feels you got when you first watched the scenes. Bawling our eyes out at “The Little Spark That Became a Firestorm” already.
Neal Acree, the series’ composer, worked on the Overwatch and World of Warcraft soundtracks alongside his compositions for Critical Role, so we know he is not playing around. His many other credits include over 30 feature films. The Mighty Nein soundtrack leans very electronic but still maintains a cinematic feel, and we bet it will sound even more amazing on vinyl. Acree manages to seamlessly combine intense, choir-like vocals and dramatic drum beats with pulsing synthpop. One of the tracks features Auli’i Cravalho of Moana. Another, Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Tiana in Princess and the Frog. Despite featuring Disney princess vocalists, the songs truly capture that dark, mysterious feeling the show itself embodies.
